The standard USB port type A is formed by four pins, as shown in the below image:
These pins are reported also in the back side of the port. Connect these pins as suggested in the below table

So the USB port should work.
Now, plug a device or a pen drive, enter to the linino console and veriry if the port is available, using the command:
The new peripheral should be shown.
If you want to mount it then use this command:
cd /mnt/sda1/Instead to umount use this other command:
